Plot Summary
There was once three little pigs ready to leave home and make their own. Their mother advised them to make their home strong for there was a big bad wolf on the loose. The first little pig was very lazy so he made his house out of straw. After he was done he laid inside eating the remainder of the straw. The second little pig loved to play. He did not want to waste time so he built his home out of wood, because it was easy. The third little pig took his time and built a strong house out of brick.
While two the little pigs where playing, the big bad wolf appeared. He chase them back to their houses and blew them away. The two little pigs ran to seek shelter with their third brother who had listen and built a strong home. The big bad wolf came to the third little pig’s house thinking that with a huff and a puff he would be able to blow away this house too. The big bad wolf was not able to and decided to go through the chimney/ The little pigs quickly made a fire in the fireplace. When the wolf came down his tail caught on fire and ran away. Since then the big bad wolf did not bother the three little pigs again.
Critical Analysis
There are countless versions of this timeless tale. In this story just like the many others the main characters are three little pigs. The first pig is lazy, the other playful, and the third is responsible. The story stays true to the original for the most part. However, this reading has mixed reviews. Some believe that there are better versions that do better justice to this classic tale. While others consider this story to be charmingly drawn.
From a personal perspective the illustrations are nothing out of the ordinary. The colors are plain and nothing really eye catching. The facial expressions drawn on the pigs are a bit odd. The text is simple and the author did not add any unusual spin to this story. There is not much details within illustrations and I find the pink robe the wolf is wearing is pointless. The book is average overall in both illustrations and text.
