Pew Research Center

This informational website does not take a side on any issue, but provides information on both sides. A user can stumble upon social issues affecting the country, public opinions, and demographic information. In addition, the website conducts research to provide accurate data for many popular questions within society. One can see that the website has done public opinion polling and social science research.
I was not aware of this website till now. Though, I do see how it could come in handy. For students barely learning the skills to research and collect date this website could be a good starting point. The website is easily accessed. It provides information on different areas from science, to politics, and religion. When one conducts a search the website provides possible articles and fit the keywords searched. This website is a valid research tool that both professionals and students can use.

Infogram

This website provides more than 35 chart options for free along with a minimum cloud space to save data. One can choose from other plans to increase features such as premium themes and more than 1 million images for a fee. When accessing the website I felt a bit overwhelmed with the features to create an infographic. I like simplicity and to me having less is more when trying a new website. I always like websites in which I do not have to resort to the support center this was not the case for this website. After looking through the video provided in the website as assistance I felt more comfortable. However, I would not consider using this with my middle school students maybe high school students would be a better choice. I did find it easier to alter and create a graph using this website. It has a lot to offer though it would be a website I would decide to use after some experience creating infographics on it. I do believe that once one learns how to maneuver to create a product, it can be a great tool to challenge students in developing an infographic of something that they are learning.

Piktochart

In all honesty, I liked Piktochart best. As soon as I made an account it took me to a virtual tour of the main parts of creating an infographic. The website was straight forward not overwhelmed with features or at least easier to access tools. One can upload own images as well as search for a limited portion of free photos. The templates can be altered in design and color. The text can change in font, style, and color. One can add charts, videos, and maps to project. Like Infogram, Piktochart has interactive maps, categorized icons, charts, and resizable canvas that can be altered to suit the user’s needs. However, I found it simpler to manipulate using this website. Piktochart could be a resource to use with my students for how user friendly it is to access and create informational documents like infographics. It can also be saved in different formats that can be useful when sharing work with others.

Comments

  1. I would have to agree that Piktochart was the best of the other ones. One feature I wish Piktochart had was being able to create one infographic simultaneously with someone using a different computer. This would allow two or more people to create an infographic together. This would be great if you are using it collaborate with teachers or students could use to collaborate with each other.
