Evaluating Reference Services for Students LSSL 5334 02 Infor Services and Resources I

I visited Edna Nunez, the librarian for M.B. Lamar Middle School. The school has been around for fifty years. However, in 2003 the campus was rebuilt and acquired a new and larger library. Since the school has been opened for so long I was very surprised to find a good amount of reference materials. The area was labeled throughout identifying the location reference materials. There were numerous dictionaries, thesaurus, encyclopedias, atlases, and almanacs. Since the school has a large population of ELLs the library has tried to provide reference materials for diverse populations. I was amazed to find a rather large area for reference materials since most have been replaced by online material. Mrs. Nunez was sweet enough to sit down and answer a few questions. When I asked regards to the reference materials Mrs. Nunez said that even though the sources are vast there has not been new material bought. The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian Alexie, S., Forney, E. and Hesse, M. (2009). Sherman Alexie, The absolutely true diary of a part-time Indian. Stuttgart: Klett Sprachen. Summary The main character Arnold Spirit Jr. lives in a reservation with his family. Many believed than he would not be able to make it through his infancy due to his born condition of hydrocephalus. This caused Junior to be bullied by others. Junior does not live in very family oriented home his parents are alcoholic. When Junior enters high school his geometry teacher advises him to get out of the reservation. Junior takes his advice and enrolls in a school in Reardan. It not easy coming into a new school and Junior encounters a few mishaps, but eventually is accepted by a few students and joins the basketball team. Pathfinder

This list of resources, or Pathfinder, shall be used to aid in the research of the solar system.  A solar system is a star and all of the objects that travel around it — planets, moons, asteroids, comets and meteoroids. Most stars host their own planets, so there are likely tens of billions of other solar systems in the Milky Way galaxy alone. Solar systems can also have more than one star. These are called binary star systems if there are two stars, or multi-star systems if there are three or more stars.
